Start your morning on a healthy note with this hearty breakfast bowl.

Loaded with nutrient-packed seeds, accented with cinnamon and maple, and topped with honey and grated pear, this healthy breakfast will make it easier to hop out of bed in the morning.

Power seed bircher

Ingredients
  • 1⁄3 cup sunflower seeds 
  • 1⁄3 cup pepitas
  • 1⁄3 cup flaxseeds
  • 1⁄2 cup rolled spelt
  • 1 1⁄2 cups 2% milk or almond milk 
  • 1⁄2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 firm pear, grated 
  • Raspberries, for serving

 

Maple vanilla yogurt

Ingredients
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla bean paste
 
Directions

1 To make the bircher (overnight oats) place the sunflower seeds, pepitas, flaxseeds and spelt in a large bowl. Add the milk, cinnamon and honey, and stir to combine. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or up to overnight.

2 Meanwhile, make the maple vanilla yogurt by placing the yogurt, maple syrup and vanilla bean paste in a bowl and mixing to combine.

3 Add the pear to the bircher and stir to combine. Spoon the bircher into four serving bowls and top with the flavoured yogurt and raspberries; serve.
