Meryl Streep (the most Oscar-nominated actor in history) through the years

From her first nomination for The Deerhunter to her 20th nod in 2017 for Florence Foster Jenkins.

On Tuesday, January 24 Meryl Streep became the actor with the most academy award nominations ever, with 20. Which wasn't that much of a change, since she also held the previous record. Overrated? The academy certainly doesn't think so. And neither do fans, some of which have been following her career since The Deerhunter and some of which who were introduced to Streep in The Devil Wears Prada (both of which earned her nominations, by the way).

In honour of Streep's record-breaking year, we take a look back at some of her biggest career moments—and of course chart her style along the way.

The 2017 Oscars

Meryl Streep is stunning in a midnight blue Elie Saab ensemble while presenting the award for best cinematography at the 89th annual Academy Awards with Spanish actor Javier Bardem. She was nominated for best actress for her role in Florence Foster Jenkins.

In 2004 Streep won an Emmy for her role in Angels in America. She wore another off-the-shoulder look, will a full skirt and sash for a belt.
