Today, Beaufille will show at New York Fashion Week. The label run by sister duo Chloé and Parris Gordon made the move from Toronto to NYC last season, and have since slowly and steadily grown their brand.

From having Lady Gaga sport their wears to landing a Moda Operandi trunk show, there’s a lot to get excited about when it comes to the feminine-meets-boyish Beaufille. This shoot is another example. Shot by Renata Kaveh with fashion direction by Dwayne Kennedy, the editorial stars R&B artist Dana, who sports lots of PVC, flares and knits from the brand.

Dana, whose latest song “Head” will get stuck in your, well, head, calls herself a “style time machine.” She explains, “What I wore two years ago has become popular. I’m not just saying that! Lucite heels for example – I see them coming into trend now and I was wearing those at NYFW and Art Basel two years ago!” Some might use a different term: trend-setter.

The collection’s PVC pieces held a particular appeal to the singer. “I love that a lot of the cuts and fabrics are very representative of the brand name. Dark with pretty sprinkled on top,” says Dana.

As for the vibe of the shoot? “Just me being comfortable” she says, adding “I worked with [the shoot team] when I was about 18 and had an agent that told them ‘make her look normal.’ It was really refreshing to go back and do this shoot with [the same team] without any bullshit. We were all laughing at how stupid that was.”

In art and style Dana is keeping things real, “It’s always been extremely important to me to just be myself and keep it real. I never compromise that for anyone or anything,” she says.
