DIY project: Paint chip wreath

A unique paint chip wreath is easily achieveable with these simple to follow instructions. Use a variety of colours or create a palette to match your Christmas decor.

Materials
  • 60 paint chips
  • Scissors
  • Glue gun
  • 18" wire wreath frame

Before you start: Choose paint chips in a colour family (like blue-green) that gradually vary from light tones to dark shades to create an ombré effect. diy-wreath-paint-wire.jpg
Instructions
1
Fold a paint chip in half lengthwise.

2 Cut out a leaf shape freehand using scissors. (If you’re not steady with the scissors, you can create a paper template and trace the leaf shape onto each folded paint chip.) Repeat with the remaining paint chips.

3 Starting with the lightest hue, hot glue the leaves, three at a time, to the wire frame to cover the width of the wreath evenly. (Don’t fuss over exact positioning – the wreath will look most natural if it’s imperfect.)

4 Glue and place the next set of leaves so their tips are slightly overlapping the previous row. Repeat with the other paint chips, gradually transitioning from light to dark shades and then back to light, until desired fullness is reached.
