decorating: favourite wallpaper pattern from marimekko

I have had a lifetime love affair with Finnish decor brand Marimekko. My late mother was an adept seamstress and my childhood home was decorated with curtains, bedding and upholstery in a brilliant combination of Marimekko's brave and colorful print design. And the love affair continues as I research wallpaper patterns to redecorate one of my stepdaughter's bedroom. My pick? Marimekko's beautiful soft grey/pink  Lumimarja. 20140108-082425.jpg Designed by Erja Hirvi, the Lumimarja pattern is feminine with a graphic abstract botanical print. Lumimarja means "snowberry" and the pattern is a wintry scene of bare trees with snow covered berries on them. I The wallpaper is vinyl with a non-woven backing which makes it extremely durable and washable. My favourite Lumimarja colourway is the grey and white colourway (pattern number 13022) It is not a cool grey however - the colors are a little on the pink side (perfect for creating name dreamy bedroom). 20140108-082850.jpg For a completely different look, I also like the drama of the brilliant red colourway (pattern number 13021). It would look fabulous in a front hall! 20140108-083356.jpg Marimekko wallpaper is available at NewWall in Toronto. Which colourway do you prefer? Tweet me @erinmclaughlin1
